Step By Step – Designer – MODULE 6:
Retrofit and PHPP
The Retrofitting Masterplan course provides a comprehensive exploration of retrofitting strategies for existing buildings, equipping learners with the knowledge and skills needed to transform structures into more energy-efficient and sustainable spaces. Participants will gain insight into the key considerations of when retrofitting makes sense, assessing the feasibility and benefits of retrofitting projects. The course delves into two crucial aspects: retrofitting the building envelope and upgrading mechanical systems, offering in-depth understanding and practical techniques for enhancing energy performance. Additionally, students will be introduced to the PHPP software (Passive House Planning Package) and DesignPH, invaluable tools for designing and evaluating passive house retrofits. By the end of this course, students will be well-prepared to develop effective retrofitting strategies, aligning their efforts with sustainability goals and energy efficiency standards.
