Passive House (German: Passivhaus) is a voluntary, global standard for commercial and residential buildings suitable for any climate zone. The aim of the standard is to economically optimize a building design with keeping the construction cost and operational costs in check. The result of this approach is a healthy and comfortable indoor environment with massively reduced operation cost to your clients.

Anyone can join our courses as the occupant health, energy efficiency of our buildings and affordability of buildings is impacting all of us. Especially the short FREE and CPD courses at the beginner and intimidate level are suitable for the public.  

The Passive House Designer Certification Course is aimed at architects, building designers, engineers, contractors, builders, policymakers, salespeople and teachers. i.e. anybody in building design or engineering.

The Certification Courses are suitable for owner-builders wanting to learn more about Passive House. However, sitting the final exam is not recommended or necessary for individuals who do not plan to work in the building sector.

Anyone can become a Passive House Tradesperson (by passing the tradesperson exam) or a Passive House Consultant (by passing the designer exam), there is no additional qualification required. To become a Passive House Designer a university degree in construction or science is needed or registration as a builder, master carpenter or equivalent. 

Certification is valid for 5 years. Renewal is possible by proving you have worked as a Passive House professional.

The Passive House Designer certification, you will be required for the full Package including the course, Q&As, exam prep and exam, between 50 and 70 hours.

All courses are online, you choose your learning location. Internet speeds of 3 MBPS are required for streaming the lessons. (If you can watch YouTube videos you can attend our lessons) 

We offer live courses and self-paced courses. Dependent on the course you choose, the teachers will be live with you in the virtual classroom, are available via chat, Q&A support and/or live in Q&A sessions.

Your exam will be in a location you choose that meet the following requirements:

• You are the only person in the room and nobody will enter the room during the exam. 
• Internet Speeds of 16 MBPS are required for exam platform with your own PC or Mac computer.
• Internet Speeds 4 MBPS with a device that has a camera and a microphone to be proctored by the examiners and communicate with your teachers. 

We will help you to setup for the exam. If you need help with the technology a colleague or  family member is allowed to help you. Please let us know if you have any special requirements. 

We’ve had students from their 70’s through to new mothers passing their exams with us! We are always happy to find a way to accomodate your needs.

Our Certification courses have a readiness test, providing you with feedback of what you should do before the Certification course starts. If you are not ready, our preparation courses will get you up to speed. The preparation course is a free bonus included in our Certification PACKAGES, i.e. with the Certification PACKAGES no prior knowledge is required.

If you are not experienced in the building industry including reading plans & detailed drawings it might be challenging for you. Please allow 2-3 hours for reviewing this details if you are not familiar with these type of drawings.
